Recap: Blackford Bruins vs. Alexandria-Monroe Tigers
The Blackford Bruins came tearing into Friday's game with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Alexandria-Monroe by a score of 49-38. That's another feather in the cap for Blackford, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Blackford to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chloe Wicker, who scored 20 points along with 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Wicker has scored at least 25% of Blackford's points. Sydnee Morris was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Blackford's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Alexandria-Monroe, their loss dropped their record down to 9-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blackford will take on Jay County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Jay County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday. As for Alexandria-Monroe, they will head out on the road to face off against Wes-Del at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
