Basketball Recap: Brady Randall's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Liberty over Ankeny Centennial

Liberty lost against Ankeny Centennial back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Liberty Lightning fell to the Ankeny Centennial Jaguars 64-59. The loss leaves the Lightning without a win on the season.

Several Lightning players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brady Randall, who shot 4-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Those 17 points gave Randall a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddoc Coapstick, who posted 15 points.

Even though they lost, Liberty smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Liberty's record is now 0-4. As for Ankeny Centennial, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-3.

Liberty won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hempstead at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.5 points per game this season. As for Ankeny Centennial, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Johnston at 7:45 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
