Preview: South Hagerstown Rebels vs. Williamsport Wildcats
South Hagerstown is 2-8 against Williamsport since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The South Hagerstown Rebels will be playing at home against the Williamsport Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
South Hagerstown waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They blew past Boonsboro, posting a 74-30 victory at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory South Hagerstown has posted since December 5, 2023.
Meanwhile, Williamsport was able to grind out a solid win over North Hagerstown on Saturday, taking the game 82-71. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Williamsport.
Corry Nelson Jr and Ceonta Wilmore were among the main playmakers for Williamsport as the former scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and five assists and the latter scored 24 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nelson Jr has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Kriner, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
South Hagerstown has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. As for Williamsport, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
South Hagerstown couldn't quite finish off Williamsport when the teams last played back in January of 2023 and fell 65-63. Can South Hagerstown avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
