Baseball Recap: Pieper Comes Up Short

Pieper had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 11-8-1 to make it four. They lost 8-1 to the Boerne-Champion Chargers. If the Warriors were looking for revenge after losing 7-5 to the Chargers when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Boerne-Champion, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-3-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games.

For Boerne-Champion's part, Ethan Coleman tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Coleman has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cal Isley, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Garritano, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

While Pieper had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
