Basketball Recap: Zihanna Lightfoot Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Farmville Central

It was a proper cat-fight when North Pitt challenged Farmville Central on Monday. The North Pitt Panthers came out on top against the Farmville Central Jaguars by a score of 44-33. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Panthers also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Pitt to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zihanna Lightfoot, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 boards. Lightfoot has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more rebounds the last 12 times she's played. Ea'Nation Witherspoon was another key player, putting up four points along with ten boards and six steals.

North Pitt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Farmville Central still got an impressive performance from Madison Denham, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 17 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Madalyne Cook, who posted 12 points.

North Pitt's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Farmville Central, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Pitt has already played their next contest (against Greene Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Farmville Central has also has no score uploaded for their next match, this one against Ayden - Grifton.
