Basketball Recap: Springfield Millers vs. Churchill Lancers
Springfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 20th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Churchill Lancers, falling 74-44. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Millers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 64-36 back in January.
Churchill's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charlie Dexter, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Dexter a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Trayshawn Wright, who made all 6 shots he took to post 16 points.
Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Churchill, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springfield will face off against Eagle Point at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. As for Churchill, they will take on Ashland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
