It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Scotts Valley Falcons take on Everett Alvarez Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Scotts Valley is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
Scotts Valley barely beat Leland the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Scotts Valley blew past Leland 12-3 on Tuesday. Considering the Falcons have won five matches by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Chloe Kent made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Kent was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
In other pitching news, Sofie Seese looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Taylor Wilson was a standout: she scored three runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Gracie Delgado, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Scotts Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Everett Alvarez ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top against Alisal by a score of 6-2.
Dani Amendola was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 15 batters over nine innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Those 15 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Michelle Wallace was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5. Alexia Meza was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.
Scotts Valley's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Everett Alvarez, their record is now 5-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Scotts Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Everett Alvarez struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Scotts Valley suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Everett Alvarez in their previous meeting back in March of 2016. Can Scotts Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
