Preview: Claymont Mustangs vs. Strasburg-Franklin Tigers
Claymont has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Strasburg-Franklin Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Claymont suffered their biggest loss since December 13, 2023 on Saturday. They were dealt a 74-33 loss at the hands of Carrollton. While losing is never fun, Claymont can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 682nd, while Carrollton is ranked 82nd).
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Strasburg-Franklin's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 53-32 walloping at the hands of West Holmes. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Strasburg-Franklin has scored all season.
Claymont's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Strasburg-Franklin, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-3.
Claymont lost to Strasburg-Franklin on the road by a decisive 39-22 margin in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Claymont avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
