Baseball Game Preview: Byrd Yellow Jackets vs. Haynesville Golden Tornado

The Byrd Yellow Jackets will square off against the Haynesville Golden Tornado at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Byrd is returning to their home field after beating Calvary Baptist Academy on theirs, despite the fact Calvary Baptist Academy has dominated at home this season. The Yellow Jackets came out on top against the Cavaliers by a score of 6-2 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, while Haynesville put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Summerfield. The Golden Tornado were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Rebels. The result was nothing new for the Golden Tornado, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Miller Toney was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Toney was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Aiden LeBlanc was a standout: he scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Haynesville: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6-1 otherwise. Zavion Wright was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Haynesville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Haynesville's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Byrd, their win bumped their record up to 12-20-1.
