Baseball Game Preview: La Habra Highlanders vs. Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles

The La Habra Highlanders are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season. they will face off against the Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Capistrano Valley Christian took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on La Habra, who comes in off a win.

While Highlanders fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Tuesday's season opener. Everything went their way against Woodrow Wilson on Tuesday as La Habra made off with a 9-2 win.

Andrew Amaya looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. What's more, he also posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Bobby Fierro and Max Garcia did most of the damage at the plate: Fierro scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Garcia scored two runs while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Garcia a new career-high in hits (two). Another player making a difference was Angel Acuna, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

La Habra was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodrow Wilson only posted a batting average of .174.

Meanwhile, Capistrano Valley Christian fell victim to El Modena and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Vanguards by a score of 2-0.

La Habra skirted past Capistrano Valley Christian 9-8 when the teams last played back in April of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for La Habra since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
