Basketball Recap: Clover Takes a Loss

Clover lost against Irmo back in November of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Clover Blue Eagles fell 48-39 to the Irmo Yellow Jackets. The matchup marked the Blue Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Clover still got an impressive performance from Jayden Parks, who posted 16 points. The dominant performance gave Parks a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Mason Nighbor, who had seven points.

Irmo found their leader in freshman Kaleb Copeland, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for Copeland. Matthew Hopkins was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

Clover's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Irmo, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-3.

Clover wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 59-42 victory against Newberry on the 30th. As for Irmo, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-41 defeat against Riverside on the 30th.
