The Riverside Ram will challenge the Lightridge Bolts at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Riverside sitting on three straight wins and Lightridge on 18.
On Monday, Riverside made easy work of Stone Bridge and carried off a 9-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Ram, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Brooklyn Oliviero was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Oliviero was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Christina Franco was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Jordan Smith was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Riverside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Lightridge faced Independence in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Bolts had just enough and edged out Independence 5-4.
The team relied heavily on Avery Sullivan, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Emmi Harris also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Lightridge's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-0. As for Riverside, their record is now 13-6.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Riverside has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Lightridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Riverside skirted past Lightridge 2-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Ram since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
