Football Recap: Zion Mabry's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Crisp County over Lovett

It was a proper cat-fight when Crisp County duked it out with Lovett on Friday. The Cougars fell 17-10 to the Lions. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 30-14 to the Lions when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zion Mabry, who rushed for 105 yards and one score. Deshaun Fedd also helped out with an impressive 101 receiving yards.

Even if they lost, Crisp County's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In that department, Carlin Ervin was the leader with two. Crisp County got some further help from Jordan Fox: he made 11 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Crisp County's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Lovett, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crisp County will square off against Fitzgerald at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lovett, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Spencer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
