Preview: Xenia Buccaneers vs. Greenville Green Wave
Xenia is 9-1 against Greenville since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Xenia Buccaneers will head out on the road to take on the Greenville Green Wave at 7:15 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Xenia suffered their biggest defeat since December 27, 2023 on Friday. They suffered a tough 51-30 loss at the hands of Tippecanoe. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Xenia in their matchups with Tippecanoe: they've now lost nine in a row.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Greenville, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 58-39 loss to Bethel on Saturday.
Despite their defeat, Greenville saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Layne Hocker, who scored nine points along with two steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Hamilton, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Xenia has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season. As for Greenville, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-13.
Everything came up roses for Xenia against Greenville when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 74-41 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Xenia since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
