Football Game Preview: Hudson Explorers vs. South Rebels

The Hudson Explorers will challenge the South Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hudson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 30.7 points per game this season.

Hudson's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They claimed a resounding 37-0 win over North Royalton. The Explorers pushed the score to 30-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bears had little chance of recovering from.

Hayden Lipinski was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 201 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes, and also rushed for 31 yards. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024. Brennan Funyak was another key player, rushing for 46 yards and one score.

Hudson didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited North Royalton to a completion percentage of just 50%. The Explorers have been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.61 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.61 in their last three games.

Meanwhile, South played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Riverside, falling 43-20. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while the Beavers are ranked 112th).

Hudson pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 0.0 points on average over those games. As for South, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.
