Basketball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Blair County Christian's Winning Streak

After a string of four wins, Blair County Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. The match between them and the Calvary Christian Academy Conquerors didn't end well, with the Blair County Christian Bobcats falling 43-28. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-45 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Blair County Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jonathan Marucci posted eight points. Marucci has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last three times he's played. Colton Walter also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Even though they lost, Blair County Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Calvary Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Suttles, who put up 17 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Lloyd, who went 6 for 10 en route to 14 points and three steals.

Blair County Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Calvary Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.

Blair County Christian has already played their next contest (against Great Commission), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Calvary Christian Academy will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Centre County Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m.
