Baseball Recap: Jack Britt Has No Trouble Against Pine Forest

Jack Britt lost to Pine Forest back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Buccaneers put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 13-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Buccaneers, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Cale Strickland made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Braedon Kaye, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Jack Britt is undefeated when Kaye posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was TJ Palmer, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Jack Britt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pine Forest only posted an OBP of .286.

Jack Britt's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Pine Forest, their defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-5.

Looking ahead, Jack Britt will host Cape Fear at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Colts' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Buccaneers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Pine Forest, they will head out to face off against Overhills at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jaguars have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season.
