Softball Recap: Rahway Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Rahway proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 16) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 victory over the J.P. Stevens Hawks. Winning may never get old, but the Indians sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Amanda Lebers made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Danielle Maher, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Yasmin Garcia, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Rahway kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matches.

Rahway's record now sits at 9-4. As for J.P. Stevens, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Coming up, Rahway will welcome Oak Knoll at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Royals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed ten runs per game on average), something the Indians will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for J.P. Stevens, they will head out on the road to challenge Monroe Township at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Hawks surely won't give up without a fight.
