Football Recap: Clinton Falls to Oak Ridge in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Clinton unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were dealt a 42-13 loss at the hands of the Oak Ridge Wildcats on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Wildcats are ranked 35th).

Clinton lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Bryson Maddox, who picked up 150 receiving yards and one score. He was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 53 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Eckerson, who threw for 214 yards and one touchdown.

Damillyan Porter had an outrageously good game for Oak Ridge as he rushed for 220 yards and three TDs on only 15 carries. Will Pressley was another key player, picking up 115 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Oak Ridge pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clinton is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will face off against William Blount at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Dragons' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Oak Ridge, they will head out on the road to take on Lenoir City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
