Recap: Edinburg Bobcats vs. San Benito Greyhounds
The Edinburg Bobcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matchups by 21 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat San Benito 65-35 at home. The victory was nothing new for Edinburg as they're now sitting on six straight.
Edinburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kimora Fagan, who scored 30 points along with four steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Fagan has scored at least 25% of Edinburg's points. Emily Carranco was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with six steals.
When it comes to explaining why San Benito lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lorena Segura. Despite the final result, she scored ten points along with seven rebounds. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for her.
Edinburg pushed their record up to 21-2 with that win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.38 points. As for San Benito, their loss dropped their record down to 14-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edinburg will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Los Fresnos at 12:30 p.m. on December 28, 2023. One thing working in Los Fresnos' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games. San Benito will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Carroll at 1:30 p.m. on December 28, 2023. Carroll will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 864th, while San Benito is ranked 292nd).
