Softball Recap: Guilford Beats West Haven for Their Third Straight Win

Guilford had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against the West Haven Blue Devils by a score of 8-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 21-3 back in April.

Sarah O'Brien spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Ella Munson was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Hannah Prior was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI.

Guilford's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for West Haven, they dropped their record down to 3-8 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Guilford will head out to challenge Hand at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for West Haven, they will be playing at home against Sacred Heart Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
