There's no place like home for Everglades City, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past the Southwest Florida Christian King 66-39 on Friday. Given the Gators' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 277th, while the King's are ranked 682nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Everglades City was led to victory by Hommer Huggins and Tayin Fairclough. Huggins shot 55% from the field to rack up 15 points and six assists, while Fairclough went 5-for-8 en route to 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks. Fairclough is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jamere Osceola, who posted nine points.

Everglades City's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Southwest Florida Christian, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Everglades City will take on Naples Classical in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Southwest Florida Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-39 loss against Out-of-Door Academy on the 16th.
