Soccer Game Preview: Sherando vs. Meridian

The Sherando Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Meridian Mustangs at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Sherando will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

Sherando's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over Liberty. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Sherando's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Liberty are ranked 263rd).

Meanwhile, Meridian was able to grind out a solid victory over Millbrook on Tuesday, taking the game 4-2. The win continues a trend for Meridian in their matchups with Millbrook: they've now won three in a row.

Sherando pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up three goals over those seven matchups. As for Meridian, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
