Softball Game Preview: Dublin Lions vs. Breckenridge Buckaroos

Dublin is 0-8 against Breckenridge since March of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Dublin Lions are taking a road trip to challenge the Breckenridge Buckaroos at 5:00 p.m. Dublin has given up an average of 12.9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Dublin is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Saturday. They came up short against Comanche, falling 17-2. That's two games in a row now that the Lions have lost by exactly 15 runs.

Dublin saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Haden Keilers, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Breckenridge didn't have quite enough to beat Early on Friday and fell 3-2. The Buckaroos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Olyvia Perez was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Breckenridge hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Early struck out 11 times.

Dublin's record now sits at 5-11. As for Breckenridge, their record is now 6-9-1.

Dublin suffered a grim 16-0 defeat to Breckenridge in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Dublin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
