Baseball Recap: Hoover Extends Home Winning Streak to Three

Hoover never let their opponents score on Thursday. They came out on top against the McKinley Bulldogs by a score of 4-0. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Not much got past Evan Fuller, who gave up just a hit and racked up 17 Ks to keep McKinley off the board. Those 17 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Fuller.

On the hitting side, Ryan Cervenak was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Matt Brown was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Hoover's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for McKinley, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 7-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hoover will welcome Hudson at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for McKinley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Northwest at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
