Durant came out on top against Alonso on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Cougars took their game against the Ravens 8-5. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Ravens: they've now won eight in a row.

Haydn May looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brady Kelley, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Shawn Graves was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Durant kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.

Durant's record is now 10-6. As for Alonso, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.

Durant will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Wharton at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cougars 3.9, the Wildcats 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Alonso, they are taking a road trip to take on Sumner at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Stingrays' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Ravens' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
