Football Recap: Southridge Picks Up 11th Straight Win at Home

Southridge got themselves on the board against Westwood Christian on Monday, but Westwood Christian never followed suit. They took their match with ease, bagging a 57-0 victory over the Westwood Christian Warriors. Fans of the Spartans have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Among those leading the charge was Mary Quinones, who threw for 152 yards and four touchdowns while completing 92.3% of her passes. Quinones is crushing it when it comes to passing touchdowns: she's passed for at least four every time she's taken the field this season.

Southridge's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. The heavy lifting was done by Anitra Charlton and Sophia Henriques, who racked up all four sacks between them. Another thorn in Westwood Christian's side was Abigail Bardino, who made two total tackles and snagged two interceptions which she returned for a touchdown.

Southridge pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 1.2 points over those games. As for Westwood Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Southridge will square off against Hialeah Gardens at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Westwood Christian, they will face off against Sunset at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
