Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Kiefer

Kiefer waltzed into their match on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Kellyville Ponies with a sharp 14-3 victory. Considering the Trojans have won 11 contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Sienna Renz made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in August.

In other batting news, Kiefer got a massive performance out of Rhyan Counts, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave Counts a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maleigha Presley, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Kiefer was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive games.

Kiefer's win bumped their record up to 23-5. As for Kellyville, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-9.

Coming up, Kiefer will head out on the road to square off against Sperry at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Kellyville, they will challenge Booker T. Washington at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
