Basketball Recap: Benson Comes Up Short

Benson came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were outmatched by the Millard North Mustangs and fell 72-35. While losing is never fun, the Bunnies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while the Mustangs are ranked 12th).

Benson lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Robert Drake, who posted nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Roy Hargrove, who scored eight points.

Major Mosser produced another solid performance going 7-for-9 en route to 19 points and seven boards for Millard North. That's the most points Mosser has posted since back in December of 2024. Jaden Albert was another key player, shooting 63% from the field to rack up 12 points and five rebounds.

Benson's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Millard North, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Benson will challenge Elkhorn South at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bunnies' defense better be ready for this one: the Storm have averaged an impressive 55.2 points per game this season. As for Millard North, they will be playing at home against Columbus at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs' defense better be ready for this one: the Discoverers have averaged an impressive 56.7 points per game this season.
