Baseball Recap: Woodland Gets the Win

While Woodland's victory against St. John wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wolverines had just enough and edged out the Islanders 3-1.

Woodland saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mac Milligan, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Mason Soard also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Woodland hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. John's struck out 11 times.

Woodland is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for St. John's, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodland will challenge Timberland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolverines are facing the Wolves at the right time seeing as the Wolves are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for St. John's, they will square off against Lowcountry Leadership at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
