TEXICO, N.M. - After taking the lead in the fourth quarter,
Texico (N.M.) held on for a 28-14 victory over
Dexter (N.M.) on Saturday. The difference for the Wolverines was it ran for a touchdown.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Israel Gonzalez, the Demons went into halftime with a 7-6 lead. The Wolverines took the lead for good with a rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring zero points in the third, Texico still trailed by 1 point going into the fourth quarter. But 22 points in the fourth helped THS pull out the victory.
The loss snapped Dexter's 5-game winning streak.

Amador Amaya played well. He threw one touchdown.
The Wolverines entered the contest giving up 19.1 points per game this year.
When the two teams played each other last season, Texico came away with a 34-7 victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for Dexter, which notched a 56-6 victory over Ramah in its previous outing. The victory was a step in the right direction for THS, which was coming off a 35-14 defeat at the hands of Santa Rosa in its previous game.
In a playoff game next week Texico (9-1) takes on Dexter, and Dexter (7-5) will go up against Texico also in a playoff game.
