Basketball Recap: Tatum Bordeaux's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Jefferson Area over Berkshire

After flying high against Conneaut last Tuesday, Jefferson Area came back down to earth. The Jefferson Area Falcons took a 60-45 bruising from the Berkshire Badgers on Friday. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Badgers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Jefferson Area's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tatum Bordeaux, who posted 15 points and four steals. That's the most points Bordeaux has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Maylee Pollard-Hanna, who had five points in addition to nine boards and six assists.

Even though they lost, Jefferson Area smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Jefferson Area's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Berkshire, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Jefferson Area wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 56-14 loss against Gilmour Academy on the 23rd. As for Berkshire, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 51-28 win against Wickliffe on the 27th.
