Basketball Recap: Salina Central Comes Up Short

Salina Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against the Andover Trojans, falling 68-41. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 180th, while the Trojans are ranked 47th).

When it comes to explaining why Salina Central lost, don't look at Kaden Snyder. Despite the final result, he went 7 for 14 en route to 17 points and seven rebounds. Snyder continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kamryn Jones, who posted nine points.

Andover's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joshua Kim, who went 7 of 9 on his way to 17 points and six assists. That's the most assists Kim has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Walker McClellan, who went 7 for 9 to rack up 17 points.

Salina Central's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Andover, their victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Salina Central will square off against Andover Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Salina Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51 points per game this season. As for Andover, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Maize South at 7:30 p.m. Andover also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 62.9 points per game.
