Baseball Game Preview: Southmont Mounties vs. Cascade Cadets

The Southmont Mounties will head out on the road to take on the Cascade Cadets at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southmont hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

Southmont lost 8-2 to Clinton Prairie on Friday.

Dean McGaughey was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Cascade came up short against Mooresville on Thursday, falling 8-2.

Cascade saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Delton Howrey, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Toby Savini also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Southmont's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Cascade, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Southmont has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Cascade struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.5 strikeouts.
