Softball Game Preview: Maplewood Rockets vs. Crestview Rebels

The Maplewood Rockets will head out on the road to face off against the Crestview Rebels at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Maplewood has 21 straight wins, Crestview has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Maplewood's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Cardinal as they made off with a 6-0 victory. The Rockets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Lexi Yannucci made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over 6.2 innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Claire Urchek was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Crestview came up short against LaBrae on Tuesday, falling 15-4.

Gia Depace stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Alivia Shetler was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs.

Crestview now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Maplewood, their record now sits at 21-1.
