Baseball Recap: Algona's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Two

Algona barely beat Iowa Falls-Alden the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs' pitchers stepped up to hand the Cadets an 11-0 shutout on Friday. Considering the Bulldogs have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The victory made it two in a row for Algona and bumps their season record up to 7-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Iowa Falls-Alden, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Algona will square off against rival Clear Lake at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 2.2, the Lions 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Iowa Falls-Alden is set to challenge their familiar foe Webster City at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
