Baseball Recap: Freedom Comes Up Short

Freedom fell victim to Winter Park and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Winter Park Wildcats by a score of 2-0. The Patriots have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meetings.

Wandy Soto was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

Freedom's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Winter Park, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Freedom will be taking part in a tournament against East River at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Winter Park, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Winter Park Wildcats duke it out with Lake Nona Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
