Holcomb extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-9 in the process. They lost 18-0 to the Stanton County Trojans. The Longhorns were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Stanton County, they pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Considering they have won seven contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Stanton County's part, Kynzi Fehringer and Sidney Parks made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Fehringer pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Parks pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Fehringer posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. At the plate, Fehringer got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Parks got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Fehringer has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, Kaydence McCleary and Valeria Ortega did most of the damage at the plate: McCleary went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Ortega went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave McCleary a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Miravete, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

While Holcomb had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
