League recap: Bryant breaks off league-leading run for Menendez

5A District 4 recap September 10, 2013

Menendez's Trevon Bryant rumbled for the longest rushing play in 5A District 4 this season in his game against St. Augustine last week. Bryant scampered for 75 yards on the play and finished with 136 on the day as his team lost to the Yellowjackets.

Menendez scaled the state rankings by moving to 253 from 308 this week, the biggest jump in the league. Patrick Turner's team was able to make move up by falling to St. Augustine 30-20.

Stefan Carter was a passing and rushing force as the Falcons lost to Joey Wiles' team. He completed 8 passes for 158 yards and also ran for 77 yards. Carter's favorite target this week was Charles Peeples, who caught 3 passes for 76 yards.

Colin Feller put up the best numbers in passing as Ponte Vedra bested Lee. He had a total of 5 completions for 63 yards. Feller's favorite target this week was Corey Russi, who caught 2 passes for 37 yards.

Bryant was the best running back in the league this week.

Peeples was the best receiver in 5A District 4 this week as Menendez lost to the Yellowjackets. Anthony Ford helped Menendez's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 59 yards.

The Falcons' Carter and Ford have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Carter has thrown for 231 yards this season, while Ford has 3 catches for 125 yards. The Sharks' Kurtis Willingham leads the league in rushing yards with 262.

Ridgeview took down Middleburg 42-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
