Baseball Recap: Central Bucks East Takes a Loss

Central Bucks East extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 6-10 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Central Bucks West Bucks. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bucks this season, with their most recent defeat being a 3-2 loss on Wednesday.

Mike Scafidi was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jack Thompson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Sharkey, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

As for Central Bucks West, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-6. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.67 runs across that stretch.

On Central Bucks West's side, the team relied heavily on Jacob Greer, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Greer a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Domiic Berretta, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Central Bucks East will host Central Bucks South at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Titans will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight. Central Bucks West does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
