Baseball Recap: Pomfret School's Undefeated Season over After Four Games

If Pomfret School was feeling good fresh off their 14-4 takedown of Episcopal on March 12th, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Pomfret School took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Portsmouth Abbey Ravens on Saturday. The loss was the Griffins' first of the season.

Pomfret School got a good showing from Ryan Flynn, who struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, Gavin Flynn was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Robert Ellsworth, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Pomfret School dropped their record down to 3-1 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Pomfret School is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will square off against Canterbury School at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. This will be Pomfret School's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Portsmouth Abbey, they will square off against Roxbury Latin at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
