Basketball Recap: Burwell Longhorns vs. Pleasanton Bulldogs
Burwell was the 57-42 winner over Pleasanton when they last played one another back in February of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. The Burwell Longhorns took a 41-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pleasanton Bulldogs.

Despite the loss, Burwell still got an impressive performance from Kaitlyn Simpson, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. Simpson is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last three games she's played. Laurel Mann was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Burwell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive matchups.
Tyra Sekutera was the offensive standout of the contest as she went 6-for-11 on her way to 18 points. What's more, she also posted a 55% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kenlie Zwiener, who posted six points along with 11 boards and three steals.
Burwell's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Pleasanton, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-9.
