Basketball Recap: Carmel Falls Short Against Ranked Westfield

On Saturday, Carmel faced Westfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Carmel Greyhounds fell 52-43 to the Westfield Shamrocks. The defeat continues a trend for the Greyhounds in their matchups with the Shamrocks: they've now lost three in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Durante Morton, who posted eight points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 rebounds gave Morton a new career-high. Will Harvey was another key player, putting up 13 points and five assists.

Carmel's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Westfield, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Carmel will be playing in front of their home fans against Bloomington South at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. As for Westfield, they will venture away from home to square off against Hamilton Southeastern at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
