Santa Fe recap October 8, 2013

Adding to the longest winning streak in Santa Fe this week, Salesian beat Paraclete 36-22. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.

St. Monica fell to Carpinteria 38-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.

St. Anthony's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jake Hooper threw for 209 and 1 touchdown and Kevin Jackson had 75 yards receiving. On the ground Corey Redeaux chipped in 137 yards. Jaylen Watson helped St. Anthony's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 49 yards.

Redeaux was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 20 carries, he ran for 137 yards as the Saints bested Valley Christian. Teammate Marshon Curry added to the ground attack by rushing for 25 yards.

St. Anthony's Hooper and Jackson led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hooper has thrown for 1,274 yards this season, while Jackson has 28 catches for 496 yards. Matthew Cecil from St. Genevieve leads the league in rushing with 470 yards.

Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when Mario Morales' team's Jackson goes up against the Valiants' AJ Olivas.

Next week's game between the Saints and St. Genevieve will feature a good passing match up as Hooper will test his arm against Olivas' defensive ability.

An important game coming up in Santa Fe this week will be when Brent Huff's team takes on St. Anthony. At the moment, the Valiants are in third, while the Saints are in first.

Salesian made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,371 from 2,717. The improvement was the result of a 36-22 victory over the Spirits last week.
