Baseball Recap: Beatrice Find Success

Beatrice lost to Platteview last Monday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Orangemen came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 5-1.

Kale Koch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up eight Ks. He has become a key player for Beatrice: the team is undefeated when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 6-8 otherwise.

At the plate, Austin Baldwin was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Ty Weichel was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Beatrice now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Platteview, they moved to 10-9 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Beatrice is set to take on their familiar foe Nebraska City at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Platteview will challenge rival Arlington at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
