Basketball Recap: LaVergne Wolverines vs. Wilson Central Wildcats
LaVergne lost against Wilson Central last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The LaVergne Wolverines were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 43-42 to the Wilson Central Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while the Wildcats are ranked 125th).
Wilson Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brylee Fly out in front who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds. Fly has become a key player for Wilson Central: the team is undefeated when she posts at least ten boards, but 10-15 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Eliana Ramsey, who posted eight points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals.
LaVergne has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 14 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-19 record this season. Wilson Central is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-15 record this season.
