Soccer Recap: Douglas Comes Up Short

Douglas lost against Southside back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Douglas Eagles lost 5-0 to the Southside Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Panthers are ranked 12th).

This is the second loss in a row for Douglas and nudges their season record down to 5-4. As for Southside, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.

Coming up, Douglas is taking a road trip to face off against Albertville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Douglas has given up an average of 2.6 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week. As for Southside, they will challenge Christian Brothers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
