Basketball Game Preview: Carson Cougars vs. Northwest Cabarrus Trojans

The Carson Cougars are taking a road trip to square off against the Northwest Cabarrus Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Tuesday, everything came up roses for Carson against South Rowan as the squad secured a 77-43 win. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Northwest Cabarrus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 77-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Concord.

Carson has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points over those games. As for Northwest Cabarrus, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.

Carson took their victory against Northwest Cabarrus when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 67-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carson since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
