Baseball Game Preview: Freeman Scotties vs. Medical Lake Cardinals

The Freeman Scotties will face off against the Medical Lake Cardinals at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Freeman's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They blew past Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna 27-0. Winning may never get old, but the Scotties sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Meanwhile, Medical Lake waltzed into their match on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They were the clear victors by a 23-4 margin over the Screaming Eagles.

Medical Lake let Austin Michaud and Dylan Harris run wild. Michaud scored four runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-3, while Harris scored four runs and stole four bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Michaud has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Levi Brower, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-1.

Medical Lake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .703. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .667 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Medical Lake's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.8 runs over those games. As for Freeman, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.

Everything went Freeman's way against Medical Lake in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Freeman made off with a 10-1 victory. Will the Scotties repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
