Recap: Rancho Alamitos Vaqueros vs. Los Amigos Lobos

The Rancho Alamitos Vaqueros waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They escaped with a win against Los Amigos by the margin of a single free throw, 60-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Rancho Alamitos was led to victory by Luis Rico and Henry Phan. Rico went 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points and 0 assists, while Phan scored 22 points along with nine assists and five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Phan posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of PJ Cordova, who scored six points along with two steals.

Rancho Alamitos' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-10. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points per game. As for Los Amigos, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-8.

Coincidentally, Rancho Alamitos and Los Amigos will both be playing Bolsa Grande the next time they take the court. Rancho Alamitos will head out to face Bolsa Grande at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Los Amigos will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
